Individual therapy
Individual Therapy for Founders
There's the business. And then there's the person building it.
When you own a business, it can be hard to know where work ends and the rest of your life begins.
The decisions are yours. The financial risk is yours. People depend on you. And even when things are going well, it can be difficult to turn off the part of your brain that is thinking about what needs your attention next.
I work with founders, entrepreneurs, business owners, creatives, and other people who carry a lot of responsibility and want a place where they don't have to be the person who has the answers.
Therapy that understands entrepreneurship
I'm a therapist, but I'm also a founder.
I know what it's like to build something you care deeply about, employ people, make decisions that affect other people's livelihoods, worry about money, question your judgment, take risks, get things wrong, change direction, and still have to show up the next morning.
That experience informs how I work with other founders.
Sometimes we'll talk about the business because the business is what's keeping you awake. Other times we'll barely talk about it at all.
We might be talking about your marriage, your family, anxiety, identity, relationships, old patterns that are showing up in the way you lead, or the uncomfortable realization that the thing you worked so hard to build doesn't fit you anymore.
You get to bring all of it here.
What we might talk about
Burnout and chronic stress
You can be successful and still be exhausted by the life required to maintain that success.
Anxiety and decision fatigue
When hundreds of decisions eventually make even the small ones feel difficult.
Identity and purpose
Who are you outside of what you've built? And what happens when the business changes, you pivot, sell, step away, or realize you want something different?
Self-doubt
The private questions that can exist alongside competence: Am I actually good at this? Did I make the right decision? What if I'm the problem?
Leadership and relationships
How attachment, boundaries, conflict, trust, responsibility, and your own history can follow you straight into the way you lead.
Your life outside the business
Marriage. Sex. Friendship. Family. Health. Fun. The parts of you that can slowly get pushed to the edges when the business keeps asking for more.
Who I Work With
You don't need to have a certain title, size of company, or definition of success to work with me.
I work with founders and co-founders, entrepreneurs and business owners, executives and leaders, creatives and artists, visionaries and people building something new, high performers carrying a lot of responsibility, people navigating a business transition, pivot, exit, or failure, partners and spouses of entrepreneurs, and people whose work has become deeply connected to their identity.
What tends to connect the people I work with is that their work matters deeply to them. It isn't something they can easily leave at the office.
Sometimes the work is going incredibly well and they're struggling personally. Sometimes the business itself is the source of the stress. And sometimes they've reached a point where they're asking a bigger question about what they've built, what it's costing them, and what they want their life to look like from here.
What working together looks like
01
We talk first.
We'll start with a free 20-minute consultation. You can tell me what's going on, ask questions, and get a sense of whether I'm someone you'd actually want to talk to.
02
We figure out what's underneath it.
Our first full session gives us more room to understand what brought you in, what's been happening, and what you want to be different.
03
Then we do the work.
Sessions are 50 minutes and are available in person in Seattle or through telehealth throughout Washington State.
04
The goal isn't to make you better at tolerating a life that isn't working.
Sometimes therapy helps you handle pressure differently. Sometimes it helps you have a conversation you've been avoiding. Sometimes it changes how you lead. And sometimes it leads to a much bigger question: Is the life I've built still the life I want?
Common questions
You spend a lot of time thinking about the business.
This is a place to think about you.
